Where did Australia stand against other OECD countries last year
- Self-employed GPs had an income 1.9 times the average wage in Australia—the lowest ratio among OECD countries.
- Australia had the 6th lowest proportion of daily smokers among people aged 15 and over (12%), with Greece ranking highest, at 27%.
- Australia was above the OECD average for litres per capita of alcohol consumed by people aged 15 and over, at 9.7 compared with 8.9 litres per capita. The highest amount of alcohol consumed was in Lithuania (13 litres per capita).
Australia’s incidence of cancer (all malignant neoplasms) was second highest among the 36 OECD countries (at 323 cases per 100,000 persons).
